Info - It's been a year ...

It's been a year since my last update. Unfortunately I will not be able to post any updates in the near future either, and I thought I'ld just tell you plain and simple why.

The last three years I've been struggeling with an illness called myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) (also called Systemic exertion intolerance disease/SEID). It is a nevrological condition with a lot of symptoms; fatigue, muscle pain, severe headaches and "brain fog" being some. They don't know for sure what's causing it, and there is no cure at the moment. Some will get better, but it can take many years.

For me the main aim these years has been to stabilize the condition, I.E. not to become worse. One very unfortunate part of this, is to stay away from The Sims, and other computer games for that matter. In addition to the general fatigue, I have problems processing information ("brain fog" and other cognitive symptoms), so reading and writing is much more difficult for me than before. Since I've also become supersensitive to any kind of bright light (sunlight or the light from computers or cell phones), I'm sure you understand why I'm not able to neither play nor create for my beloved simmies at the moment.

That said, I still have a meaningful, happy life. I have my family and friends close by, I'm able to do simple things in the house (many with ME can't), and I get to meditate a lot! :) I'm also confident that it wont be like this forever, so one day I might open the game again!

All the best to all of you and happy simming!

  1. So sorry to hear about this. This sounds like what I've had all of my life, which is Hashimoto's, a thyroid condition. I was not diagnosed until I was 64! It runs through the female line, so if a female relative has it, you do (thanks, Grandmother Dorsey!). I mention this so that you may ask about your thyroid, and perhaps get some relief.

    1. Thank you Ginnie! I'm sorry to say that I am (unfortunately) a classic ME-case, so there isn't really any doubt about my diagnosis. Different kind of thyroid and other hormon conditions, including Hypothyroidism which also have some of the same symptoms, were checked, but my hormon levels are perfectly normal. Which is good! :)

  2. Kyria, I'm so sorry to hear this. It is such a debilitating condition, I can understand how difficult this must be for you. I do hope, and pray, that your symptoms will ease for you.
